For certain people, this has to do with emotions mostly. Well, that’s what they think. Self-control is actually the ability to be disciplined enough to avoid certain activities or actions that would make you miss the mark in life, ultimately. It is imperative that when we are looking at subjects like this, the lifelong meaning should be drawn up.
That being said, self-control is not just about stopping yourself from acting out in anger, it even extends to being disciplined enough to stop your pilfering or stealing habits, writing up and following your laid down plans, controlling your sexual drives till after marriage (when it’s appropriate), and even as little as knowing what to eat, when to eat.
Self-Control is a vital part of every human beings life if they want to make something meaningful out of it. I would like to use a scripture that says:
“Losing self-control leaves you as helpless as a city without a wall.” Prov. 25:28(CEV)
The KJV of the same verse says:
“He who has no rule over his own spirit is like a broken down city without a wall.”
So ultimately, self-control is having a rule over your own spirit. Just as it clearly points out that a man without self-control is a defenseless man and can be destroyed at any time by anyone who so ever pleases to attack. It is important to note also that man is a 3 in 1 being. Man is a spirit (identity), has a soul(possession), lives in a body(container). Control your spirit, and make your decisions wisely.
