President Muhammadu Buhari just inaugurated the Armed Forces Council on Thursday, 9th November 2017.
The last council was inaugurated on July 17, 2014.
The Armed Forces Council is established by CAP A20 of Laws of the Federation of Nigeria and Section 4 of the Armed Forces Act and is responsible and under the Authority of the President for the command, discipline and administration of and for all other matters related to the Armed Forces.
In order to deal with present and evolving challenges of security and the Armed Forces, the following matters were ratified by the Armed Forces Council;
- the National Defence Policy 2017 (Revised)
- Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service Officers 2017 (Revised)
- Restricted Harmonized Terms and Condition of Service Soldiers/Ratings/Armen 2017 (Revised).
