  • On the 24th of June, 1995, Mandela woke up at his usual time of 4:30 am but broke his routine of going for a
  • morning walk.
  • This day was the day his country would be playing the best team in the world, New Zealand, in the final of Rugby World Cup. He confessed he was tensed.
  • His Xhosa name Rolihlahla means troublemaker.
  • Mandela was the first black man to burn his Identity document known was “the pass book”. He did it in the full view of a camera aimed at maximum media impact. (in 1952)
  • He also predicted he would be the first black President in an ANC top leadership meeting.
